The Hathras incident has exposed the police, administration and health department. During this incident, the administrative system appeared completely helpless. Chaos prevailed from the venue to the trauma centre. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police who arrived on receiving the information kept giving instructions to their subordinates. The situation was such that despite all efforts in the hospital, the administrative staff could not manage the oxygen, electricity and other arrangements. Due to which people showed anger.
There has been anger among the people many times regarding the helplessness of the health department, but the health services are not improving. As soon as the injured started arriving at the trauma center located at Sikandrarao CHC, there was neither oxygen nor paramedical staff and doctors. People alleged that there is only a system to put a bottle in the hospital premises. Neither fans are running nor oxygen is available. The officers had to face the anger of the people. As soon as District Magistrate Ashish Kumar reached the spot, he himself saw the situation there and called the CMO and other officials, but no improvement could be made. Even the officers themselves started asking the local people for help with fans, water etc.
There was a crowd of one lakh, but only 40 police personnel were deployed
There was a huge crowd at the satsang. The surprising thing was that only 40 policemen were deployed to control the crowd and ensure security. The police administration did not make the correct estimate of the crowd, otherwise this accident would not have happened.
The intelligence system failed
Preparations for this satsang were going on for the last 15 days. The pandal was also prepared, but the intelligence system was asleep. The intelligence system did not give any report regarding the gathering of the crowd to the higher authorities and such a big accident happened.
